Following a cataclysmic industrial accident that drastically reduces the density of the earth’s atmosphere, the few remaining humans move underground, only venturing outside at night to avoid fatal ultraviolet rays. Small bands of scavengers compete for food and resources. Life is brutal, survival is the only goal, and hunting each other to reduce demand for resources is preferable to starving.

Sixteen-year-old Veda spends her days living in the basement of one of Denver’s largest hospitals, avoiding detection from the roaming gangs and using her wits to survive. But when Veda meets Orion, a hardened warrior, her sheltered life is irrevocably shattered. As she embarks on her own journey, Veda meets a band of other vestige women. Together, they prove they can overcome any challenge.
